Atheist Statistics:

How Many Of Us Are There?

If you think nonbelievers in the U.S. are few and far between, think again.  As reported in a Secular Humanist Bulletin article by Tom Flynn — the Scripps Howard News Service and Ohio University E.W. Scripps School of Journalism analyzed seven public opinion polls conducted in the late 1990s by Ohio University Scripps Research Center. Flynn states that “By the numbers, the nonreligious may be Americas largest minority.” He adds, “If 11.4% of Americans do not believe in a god who answers prayers…and will go out of their way to deny any religious preference, then something between 30,996,687 and 31,437,921 Americans belong in our camp.  That would make irreligion the second-largest life stance, outnumbering members of  any sect or denomination except Roman Catholics.”  (Comparable results were obtained in national surveys from Gallop, Roper, Barna, and other national polling services.)
Over 30 very active organizations from coast to coast attest to the spirit and spunk of people who will surely be interested in The Atheist Book of Holidays.
